Animation feast in Moscow

Last Sunday I went to Vystavochny Zal "Na Solyanke" ("Na Solyanke" Exhibition Centre). It was my maiden visit to the prominent cultural venue in the Russian capital, and I liked it. Apart from Oleg Gurov's Deformations (that I liked, too, - although most of my fellow Moscovites are sure to have found these and the accompanying taped music disgusting), Kak obmanuli zmeya (How they cheated on the Snake) a 13-minute videotaped animated film by Andrei Kouznetsov and an accompanying exhibition of cartoons by the same author were the two major hits for me. I enjoyed the animation immensely. In fact, if only I could have afforded it, I would have framed every single motion picture from the film. It is so masterful, stylish and so invigorating!

I went through a room, where kids' drawings were put on display, and stumbled upon another animation show - Craddle songs from all over the world, I believe, was the grand series' name. As good luck would have it, I chanced upon a French lullaby. The director was a Russian woman (I will add her name later). I caught a glimpse of it, actually, for my time was running out and I had to leave.

Animations were shown as part of a larger-scale Multfest, an international animation festival that runs here till November 8.
